Google Pixel 2: Possible Features of Walleye and Taimen

Google Pixel 2 XL, the source delivers a first look at the technical features of the future Pixel 2 series with two models in view: Walleye and Taimen.

Pixel smartphones marked a turning point in Google’s smartphone strategy after the Nexus series. Designed by HTC, they benefit from a greater involvement of the Mountain View group in hardware and software.

I do not know about you, but I’ve never been particularly attracted to the Nexus smartphones. Yes, pure Android, yes, affordable (albeit not always) price, yes, a good set of characteristics. But on the other side of the scale there were quality problems, not the best photographic possibilities (the magic of HDR + came to naught for me after comparing LG Nexus 5 and Vivo Xshot, and afterwards was not very impressive) and pure Android. Google Pixel models as successors to Nexus lost one of the main advantages – affordable cost – but they got a great camera, uncompromising hardware and the best version of Android.

There is no full-fledged Google assistant, so if you want to communicate with your phone – switch the language of the system to English. Notifications in the shutter steel are more detailed and clearer, they are now grouped, and the messages can be answered without opening the program.

After the two models of 2016, a new series Pixel 2 is expected this year that will benefit from the new evolution Android O. Of the three smartphones approached, one of them, baptized Muskie, seems to have been abandoned in favor of “Taimen model designed by LG Electronics.

The source claims to have obtained information on the Walleye and Taimen smartphones which may be the future Google Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2.

The Taimen model, designed by LG, would match the Pixel 2 XL with a very large 5.99-inch screen with low borders, QHD / 2K resolution and AMOLED slab provided by LG Display.

It should offer a SoCSnapDragon 835 running at 2.45 GHz, with 4 GB of RAM and up to 128 GB of storage space. The back of the smartphone will be similar to that of the Pixels of 2016, with a shell composed partly of glass and aluminum, with a shorter glass part no longer encompassing the fingerprint reader. The smartphone should finally keep a simple photo sensor on the back.

The Walleye smartphone should match the Google Pixel 2. We will be dealing with a 4.97 inch display in Full HD resolution, with a design very similar to the 2016 model.

The model should not have a 3.5 mm jack but it will offer a dual stereo speaker. It will also offer a configuration based on a SnapDragon 835 platform with 4 GB of RAM, and at least 64 GB of storage memory.
